Sue Sutton
Chair of Governors
I am committed to working alongside and supporting the Senior Leadership Team to provide the best educational experience for all our pupils.
My name is Sue Sutton. I have lived in Calderdale for 24 years and I am a retired Headteacher, having led 2 primary schools within the Local Authority. I’ve been a member of the Governing Board for 7 years and currently hold the posts of Safeguarding Link Governor and the Chair of the Governing Board. I am committed to working alongside and supporting the Senior Leadership Team to provide the best educational experience for all our pupils.

Alison Stewart
Governor
I am committed to supporting the school in ensuring all children achieve their potential in a caring and nurturing environment and am particularly interested in their developing literacy skills.
My name is Alison Stewart and I have been a member of the governing body for almost 10 years, although my links with the school began 28 years ago when my children attended the nursery class at St Peter’s. I have worked in education in Calderdale for 33 years as a primary teacher and an English Consultant, first for the Local Authority and then independently. I am the Moderation Manager for KS1 SATs in Calderdale and I currently teach the English component of the Trinity Teaching School Alliance Primary PGCE course. I have experience of working with Senior Leadership Teams and teachers in planning, monitoring and assessing at KS1 and KS2. When I am not working, I can usually be found either walking my dog on the tops or with my head in a book!

I joined the governing body at Trinity Academy St Peter’s as I wanted to help support my local school achieve the best educational experience for all our pupils.
I’ve been a member of the Governing body of Trinity Academy St Peter’s for over two years having joined as a Parent Governor with one child attending the school at the time. I am a qualified HR Professional working within a large Financial Services organisation and have a range of transferable skills that bring non-educational experience and expertise to the education sector. I am committed to the success of our school and with a willingness to develop knowledge in all educational aspects, I will continue to proactively support the school’s senior leadership team in striving for continuous improvement and the nurturing of a positive learning environment for all.

Become a Governor
We are looking to recruit a number of governors to support our school.
The Governors for the Academy Local Governing Body are appointed by the Trust Chief Executive Officer under delegated authority of the Board of Directors, as set out in the Trust’s Scheme of Delegated Authority.
The role of a governor can be very rewarding, and volunteering within our schools will provide you with the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to your local community and the future of our young people.
Governors will sit on our Local Governing Body and work with the senior leadership team to ensure students are receiving the best education possible and that all resources are being used effectively to support this ambition. A strong governing body is made up by people who will contribute various skills and experience. This group will also commit to working together for the benefit of the school and the communities in which we work. Being a governor requires individuals to learn about schools and ways of working, and it is also about individuals bringing their skills and experience to contribute to an existing skillset. It is important that every governing body consists of people who understand their role and responsibilities. These people also need to be committed to gaining knowledge about the school, and willing to ask challenging questions to scrutinise leadership, as well as decisions made within the school.
